Letting your dog wear shoes when you take him out for a walk protects his little paws from gravel and broken glass, prevents them from getting dirty outside and bringing them home, and eliminates the need to wash his feet so often! So, it is really important to prepare the right shoes for your dog. And have you ever thought about making a pair of beautiful little flower shoes for your dog with your own hands? Here are the detailed steps for making dog shoes, so hurry up and follow along:

STEP 1 Prepare the materials
[Detailed instructions]
The materials for making dog shoes include fabric, leather and drawing pen.
Editor’s comment
The fabric chosen here is corduroy fabric. Corduroy is smooth and soft to the touch, with clear and rounded pile strips, soft and even luster, thick and wearable, which is more suitable for dog shoes. Of course, you can also choose other fabrics.
Leather is used for the sole of the shoe, so choose something thicker. As for leather or faux leather, there is not much difference.
The drawing pen is used to draw the size on the fabric to make it easier to cut, so you can choose a brightly colored pen.

STEP 2 Cut the fabric
[Detailed instructions]
Cut the fabric and leather into four ovals each, or eight if you’re using a thin fabric that can be stacked together for added thickness.
Then cut the fabric into 4 rectangles. Again, if the fabric is thin, cut it into 8. Leather cut into 4 ovals is enough.
Editor’s comment
The length of the center shaft of the oval is 2CM larger than the dog’s foot. for example, if the dog’s foot measures 5CM * 4CM, the oval will be 7CM * 6CM then the width of the rectangle is 7CM.
The width of the rectangle is the barrel height of the shoe and the length is the barrel circumference. Cut it big not small, because you can leave room for modification until it fits.

STEP 3 Sewing the fabric together
[Detailed method]
Overlap the oval fabric with the leather, back side up, and align with the rectangle as shown in the picture.
The circle and the dotted lines shown are stitched to the circle and rectangle. When seaming, you will need to rotate the circle slightly at the edges and leave at least 1cm of edge when seaming to prevent straining the cloth.
Editor’s comment
For convenience, paper is used here instead of fabric. Note that when sewing, the leather is on the outside for the sole and the fabric is on the inside for the shoe. Don’t get it backwards! >

STEP 4 Stitching the sole of the shoe
[Detailed practice]
As shown in the picture, the bottom left picture is the top view of the sewn sole, and the bottom right picture is the side view of the sewn sole.
Editor’s comment
Because the paper is stiffer, it looks stiffer. The cloth sewn out will definitely look this good, try it yourself and you’ll see! >

STEP 5 Final product
[Detailed instructions]
Put the shoes in the right place and cut the front of the shoes into the picture below left. After cutting, sew up the sides. Be careful not to touch the top, or the dog won’t fit in.
Finally, turn the shoe inside out and the shoe will look like this. Of course, the shoe should be taut and sewn on the lacing.
Editor’s comment
If you are a novice, you can try making a pair of paper shoes first, and if you get good at it, then you can do it with fabric. When you do it with fabric, you have to sew carefully by hand, and the picture on the bottom right is just a few stitches, not the final look.
Isn’t this a cute shoe! The design and colors are available to your heart’s content too! Do you have the heart to make a pair? >
